The 10 Strangest Ways People Found my Blog in 2010
The internet is a strange place, and thanks to my GetClicky (think Google Analytics, but better) data, I’m able to see all the strange stuff people searched for in 2010 that led them to my blog. Though there’s plenty of normal stuff — popular searches ending up here include “travel blog,” Tumblr travel,” “DC Photos,” and “travel pictures,” — it’s the weird stuff that’s much more interesting. I have no idea why people were searching for these things, let alone why Mr. Google decided that my site was a great fit for their query. But, nonetheless I present to you the 10 weirdest search terms people used to find my blog in 2010:
10. Castration+jewelry

Help me StartSomeGood!
My new years resolution: empower people from around the world to do good in the world.
I’m so happy and excited to say that so far 26 different people have contributed a total of $1,790 to help launch my new social enterprise. We have $210 more to raise and two weeks to do it. Will you be the next one to help?
For those of you that have asked, here’s a video of me talking more about StartSomeGood and how we are planning to grow the field of social entrepreneurship through tapping into the power of the crowd. Want to learn more? Check out our fundraising page on IndieGoGo or follow us on Twitter!
Help Launch StartSomeGood.com
Hey Tumblrs: Do you believe in the power of social entrepreneurship to improve the world? If so, read on!
I’m really excited to share what I’ve been working on for the last couple of months. Along with a ridiculously talented team of four others, we’re building StartSomeGood.com, a site for using crowdfunding to launch social enterprises.
We’re planning to officially launch in February, 2011, but to make our dream a reality we’re currently running a fundraiser on IndieGoGo to get the resources we need to conduct an inventive and aggressive outreach campaign.
How can you help? There are three ways, and I’d be grateful for any help and support:
1) Reblog this post on Tumblr to show that there are lots of Tumblrs that want to support projects to improve the world.
2) Consider donating to our fundraising campaign on IndieGoGo. We believe in the power of the crowd, and even a few dollars will go a long way as we show that lots of people united behind one world-changing idea can have an incredible impact. Plus, your donation will be rewarded with a gift certificate to use on our site that you can then use to support the social enterprise of your choice!
3) We wouldn’t be where we are today without the help of so many people offering all kinds of advice and support. Learn more about our model and our vision on our IndieGoGo page. Are you inspired by what we’re doing and want to learn more? Get in touch!
