If this video, “Guy Walks Across America” doesn’t make you want to get out and travel right now, nothing will. Both the idea itself and the execution of stop-motion photography are awesome.

No one would ever confuse me with someone that likes interior decorating (the two times I’ve been to Crate and Barrel I wandered around in circles like a lost puppy until a salesperson came along and helped me pick out wedding gifts), but I decided to do do a little room makeover recently.
The highlight? These awesome Ork posters. If you haven’t seen them before, Ork makes these great stylized maps of major cities, prominently featuring the various neighborhoods of each. Check out this closeup of DC; you can see the amazing fonts and attention to detail.
Of course I went with the three cities I’ve lived in: LA, SF and DC, and the Geography nerd in me loves it.

We’re Apple. We don’t wear suits.
Steve Jobs, in response to an AT&T Sales Rep’s recommendation that he wear a suit to an AT&T board meeting — according to a great article in Wired on Apple-AT&T tensions. It’s only in the print magazine for now, but you can read Business Insider’s summary here. I love Silicon Valley. -
Tumblr is on Fire (via TechCrunch)
http://techcrunch.com/2010/07/19/tumblr-stats/Tumblr got love today from TechCrunch, and for good reason: it now has over 1.5 BILLION page views per month. I’ve been a happy Tumblr(er?) for almost two years now, and consider it to be by far the best platform out there. It’s simple, slick and easily customizable. The best part, though, is the great community bolstered by Tumblr’s features that promote sharing and interaction.
How about you, why do you choose Tumblr?

Today is the day that Marty McFly came to in the “future” in his Delorean! (Hat tip: Blake)Update: Sadly, as pointed out by NoShortsforHobos it’s actually a hoax: http://www.worldcorrespondents.com/july-5-2010-back-to-the-future-destination-time-is-a-hoax/886926
Too bad! I still want to go re-watch the movie, though.

USC is lucky that hubris isn’t an NCAA violation, else the Trojans would be facing the death penalty.
Mark Kriegel of Fox Sports.
After years of blatant cheating, lack of institutional control, and complete disregard for doing things the right way, U$C is finally getting what it deserves. Cheat on!

You can’t live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.
Rest in peace, John Wooden. The greatest coach of all time, and an even greater person. Go Bruins!
