Nyhavn, Copenhagen
Though my buddy and I were joking around about how we thought it was pronounced doing the worst Danish accents ever, apparently it’s just “New Haven” like the town where Yale is.  Despite this linguistic let-down, the area of shops along the water is brilliant.  Some photos: It might be tough to tell, but it’s a map of Europe made of flowers on the side of a...

Love Padlocks
Cologne blew me away for many reasons, but one of the coolest things I saw is on the Hohenzollern Bridge near the Cathedral and Hauptbahnhof.  Couples write their names on padlocks and then attach them to the chainlink fence which stretches across the Rhine river.  If I had to guess, I’d say there are close to 10,000 locks on the bridge, which makes for quite a cool public monument.  Some...

Miniatur Wunderland, Hamburg
So, this easily goes down as the nerdiest thing I did on my Eurotrip (and, let’s be honest, it’s up there in a life of nerdiness), but I went to the world’s leading Miniature Railroad museum while in Hamburg.  It was pretty ridiculous.  They built a model of Switzerland.  THE COUNTRY!  It was two stories tall!  With the Alps!  They also had an “America” section which...

Homeward Bound
After three amazing weeks in Europe, I’m Tumbling this from 35,000 feet on a plane headed back to San Francisco while watching a replay of the USA-Algeria match (a great welcome back to the States of there ever were one). Though I’m now heading back to real life, I still have lots more stories and photos to share from the Eurotrip, which I’ll continue to post in the next few...

Thoughts on Estonian Shampoo
While discussing the strange smells one finds in hostels today, a girl told me I smelled good.  Surprised, I told her it must because I am using Estonian children’s shampoo I randomly bought a few days ago in Tallinn.  She thought I was kidding.  I wasn’t.  I wonder if they ship to the states…

Hello Helsinki
I had barely put down my backpack in my Helsinki hostel, when the crazy adventures in the Finnish capital began. Seagull Sundae While strolling along the waterfront with my buddy enjoying a Scandinavian (I.e. like 40% milk fat) ice cream cone, I felt a sudden gust of wind above my head and then a jolt near my precious cone. As I looked around to see what happened, two Finnish guys nearby were...
