Hopefully throwing the best BBQ GPPI has ever seen. If not, at least there will be beer and croquet.

Michigan: 0-1, Gtown: 0-0. So far looks like I made the right decision!

Georgetown Stereotype?
So, I was riding the metro back from visiting the Target in Columbia Heights when I realized I was one, big, fat, Georgetown stereotype.  I was in a “hoya saxa” shirt, and was carrying a croquet set.  To be fair, the croquet set was the cheapest one I could find.  But still, I was one popped collar away from being a true Georgetownian.

Stupid Californian
So, I figured in moving out to DC that I would buy all of my “winter” gear — heavy jacket, umbrella, etc — once here.  Of course I also didn’t think of the freak rain that comes with DC summer — though I was reminded of it this morning.  Waking up to heavy rain, without an umbrealla, meant I did a 4 block awkward-walk/jog to the metro, while holding a jacket...

Orientation Day 2
Who knew orienting could be so exhausting?  They keep us very busy, but so far Orientation has been great.  The range of people I’ve met has been fascinating: a guy from Lebanon, a girl from Bahrain, a wounded Iraq vet, and on and on.  I’m excited by all the Geographic diversity.

First night out in Arlington
A girl I met last night said she went to Hampton University. I mentioned that her mascot was the Pirates. She was clearly unimpressed, but I didn’t care—my sports nerd lives!
